Revised Pilot Transfer Arrangements Safety Awareness and Training Procedures Poster

The recent amendments to SOLAS Chapters II‑2 and V, in particular Regulation 23 Pilot transfer arrangements, together with the associated performance standards and guidance (including MSC.572(110) and MSC.576(110)), introduce important changes to the design, installation, and use of pilot transfer arrangements. These amendments were adopted in 2025 and will enter into force on 1 January 2028.

Between 2026 and 1 January 2028 there is an official voluntary implementation period. In this context, we would like to inform you that Everlux has decided to amend its Pilot Transfer Procedures poster, item code S6200, with immediate effect. The Everlux Safety Awareness and Training Procedures poster on the Required Boarding Arrangements for Pilot Transfer has been fully updated to reflect the latest requirements adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and highlighted by the International Maritime Pilots’ Association (IMPA).

To support shipowners, operators, agents, and maritime service providers in preparing for these changes, we have updated our poster to include:

    • The full set of mandatory pilot transfer requirements applicable from 1 January 2028
    • Updated illustrations aligned with the latest IMO and IMPA guidance
    • Clear, practical visual instructions to promote compliance and improve onboard safety

We also take this opportunity to highlight other important dates in the implementation timeline for the revised SOLAS Regulation V/23. From 1 January 2028, all newly installed pilot transfer arrangements must comply with the revised performance standards. Existing arrangements must be upgraded at the first survey on or after 1 January 2029 for ships subject to SOLAS Chapter I, and no later than 1 January 2030 for ships not covered by that chapter.

In addition to the updates to the Everlux Required Boarding Arrangements for Pilot Transfer poster (S6200), Everlux is also introducing two new Safety Awareness and Training Procedures panels:

    • S6210 – Required Pilot Transfer Arrangements for Trap Door and Side Door

    • S6211 – Practices Requiring Correction – Rope Ladder

These new posters are now available and ready for distribution in all Everlux standard materials and sizes. We encourage all entities involved in pilotage operations to ensure that their vessels display the most current versions, helping crews prepare for the revised SOLAS provisions and maintain best practices in pilot transfer safety.
